Richard has an exceptional track record transforming early stage companies into successful category leaders. These new technology platforms have each generated tens-of-thousands of customers and hundreds of millions of dollars in sales, resulting in new, multi-billion dollar enterprises. He has served on numerous start-up boards and as Vice Chairman of publicly traded NDS Group (sold to CSCO). Among other key roles, he served as EVP & CMO of VeriSign, as it scaled from start-up to $700 million in sales, 2,500 staff, and 100,000 customers, and a successful IPO. He previously served as VP Marketing for Sybase (sold to SAP), as it scaled from early product beta to $900 million in revenue, 5,000 staff, and 1,000s of enterprise customers, and a successful IPO. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in the Honors Program for Classical Studies from Swarthmore College. His philanthropic efforts include the Leadership Council of the Tipping Point Community, where he mentors non-profit CEOs. Avocations include fitness, meditation, and music.
