Brandcast Celebrates Birthday by Giving Back

ANNA KRANZTHOR  / MAY 12, 2016

Birthdays are traditionally associated with the receiving of gifts- and we here at Brandcast consider ourselves the recipients of many. We’re lucky enough to call San Francisco home, to team with incredible brands such as Lowes and Visa, and have the opportunity to build projects with the likes of New York Fashion Week.

When Brandcast started four years ago, we were backed by the extraordinary Marc Benioff, who helped standardize the 1:1:1 corporate philanthropy model. With this in mind, on Tuesday, 5/10, we decided to celebrate our company’s birthday by giving back. We spent the afternoon with theGolden Gate National Parks Conservancy and participated in a volunteer project to help preserve and enhance the beautiful landscape oFort Mason.

Led by our intrepid project leader Ruben of the National Park Service, we sought to weed invasive plants on one of the hillsides along the park. While this might not sound glamorous, the sun was shining, a pleasant breeze was blowing, and we all relished the chance to get outside for some fresh air and breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Everyone tackled the task with energy and enthusiasm.

Spirits were high and bad jokes were plentiful (“it’s about time our engineers were given a chance to weed something out other than old code”), and at the end of the day the NPS rewarded us with snazzy volunteer pins, and we helped ourselves to a few cold ones. We believe Brandcast is the future of web building, but we recognize that equally as important is the future of our environment and the community that we live in. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the fantastic volunteer programs that help maintain San Francisco’s public parks, historic sites, and coastlines.
